@NolanFinleyDN – Let’s find out if Biden is a crook – The Detroit News

Wanting to get to the bottom of the Hunter Biden email allegations is not akin to an endorsement of President Donald Trump’s reelection.

Just because you might think Joe Biden is better than Trump no matter what, you still should want to know just how bad Biden is.

Biden doesn’t want to address the claims that he allowed his son to profit from his name and position, and so far he hasn’t been forced to.

But what we’ve seen to date looks very bad.

A laptop allegedly abandoned by Hunter Biden at a repair shop is in the hands of the FBI and is reportedly being held as evidence in an unspecified money laundering scheme.

Emails allegedly recovered from the computer seem to indicate Joe Biden was more actively involved in his son’s foreign business dealings during the former vice president’s tenure than he has previously stated. And he may have been poised to financially benefit from Hunter’s attempt at influence peddling.

A self-described former Hunter Biden business partner, Tony Bobulinski, came forward last week to attest to the validity of the emails and dropped a bombshell of his own.

Bobulinski claims the elder Biden was part of a scheme to collude with a Chinese company to enrich the Biden family with legally questionable deals.

One of the emails refers to a 10% kickback for the “Big Guy,” who Bobulinski identifies as Joe Biden.

Another email cautions participants in the scheme against using Joe Biden’s name in anything but face-to-face conversations.

Who knows if there’s any truth here, or if it’s just an elaborate scam to discredit Biden before the election?

But we should be digging hard to find out. It’s worth noting that, unlike many of the allegations raised against Trump, these assertions come with on-the-record sources and physical evidence attached.

Neither Hunter nor the Biden campaign have denied the son’s ownership of the laptop, nor that he sent or received the emails in question.

The story broke in the New York Post, and that newspaper, Fox News and a few conservative publications continue to do follow up reporting.

Biden’s defenders have defaulted to flimsy efforts to discredit the report as a Russian scam, despite no evidence to support the claim.

Twitter and Facebook tried to block its circulation.

Why wouldn’t we want to know if a man who is days away from the presidency is on the take?

It’s not out of the question.

A 2008 New York Times story examining how Biden was able to buy a luxury beach home on a senator’s salary recirculated this week on social media.

Wealthy supporters, some with an interest in legislation before Biden’s Senate banking committee

“bought his old house for top dollar, sold him four acres at cost and lent him $500,000 to build his new home.”
