Thus when Jochebed placed Moses in
the basket and sent him floating down
the river with the help of her daughter
Miriam, Jochebed knew two things: first,
that a male did not need royal blood
to succeed in the Egyptian family; and
second, that he was the deliverer sent
to lead the Hebrews back to Caanan.
This was done, not out of fear for the
child’s life, but to start his life’s training.
How fortunate it was that a young
woman destined to be one of the greatest
Pharaohs of Egypt (and a female) would
be there to pick the child up out of the
river and would help guide Moses on
his journey. Hatshepsut was that female
who put him in a position of power in
Egypt by claiming that he was her son.
